TRX DR/BRT hi-hats offer a fuller frequency range and aggressive sound

New DRK/BRT Hi-Hats from TRX Cymbals feature sonically-matched DRK bottom and BRT top hi-hat cymbals to produce bright, penetrating closed hi-hat sounds with fuller, more explosive open and half-open sounds. The pairs are available in 13, 14 and 15˝ models and recommended for a variety of contemporary drumming styles.

“By themselves, heavy hi-hats are great for stick definition and high-pitched projection when played closed,” explains TRX spokesman id Levine. “But they’re often thin and one-dimensional in terms of their open sound. We found that combining a bright (BRT) top with a dark (DRK) bottom brings back a lot of the bottom-end and balances out the overall frequency spectrum— creating an amazing hi-hat sound that’s extremely crispy and crunchy.”

TRX Adds 21˝ Crash-Ride To Exclusive LTD Line.

In answer to the requests of many drummers for a larger cymbal with the unique tonal features of TRX’ exclusive LTD Series, the company has announced the immediate availability of a new 21˝ Crash-Ride LTD model. The Series, which was previously only available in 18˝ and 20˝ Crash-Rides and 14˝ Hi-hats, employs three different types of finishes in three different areas of the cymbal— natural bell, lathed and hammered face and highly-polished edge.

This triple-zone, multi-purpose design provides an extraordinary combination of articulation and detonation that’s already received rave reviews from modern Rock, Pop, Punk and Metal drummers as well as major drum media, including Drum!, Drummer and Rhythm magazines.

BIGGER, BOLDER, BRIGHTER— TRX LAUNCHES OVER-SIZED “BRT” SERIES CYMBALS.

(LOS ANGELES, CA) — In response to requests from hardcore and progressive drummers for larger, more powerful cymbals, the TRX Cymbal Company has announced that it is expanding its popular BRT Series to include a 24˝ ride, 21˝ and 22˝ crashes and 15˝ hi-hats.

“In the past, the biggest crash cymbals were 20˝ and only the most aggressive players were using them,” comments TRX spokesperson David Levine. “We recently began noticing that more and more drummers were playing the bigger sizes and some were even using 21˝ and 22˝ ride cymbals as crashes. But ride cymbals aren’t designed to be crash cymbals. It’s just not the right sound. So, we developed these larger crashes and matched them with a bigger ride and hi-hats to meet the needs of today’s hard rock players.”

TRX’s BRT Series cymbals are custom-crafted by master Turkish cymbalsmiths and feature heavier weights with extensive hand-hammering and a highly-polished surface. Available in a wide range of crash, splash, ride, hi-hat and china models, the line is noted for its clarity, projection and durability in high-volume playing situations.

“We don’t want anybody getting hurt by the massive sound and extreme power of these Big BRTs, though,” Levine adds. “We’re warning players to use them carefully. With great power comes great responsibility.”

LTD Series

Available in 18" and 20" Crash-Ride models and matching 14" Hi-Hats, the LTD Series from the TRX Cymbal Co. has been designed to offer drummers several improvements over the sound and performance of previously available Crash-Rides and Hi-hats. The LTD Series employs three types of finishing processes to enhance the two types of sounds that are characteristic of the popular, dual-purpose cymbals.

During the course of their ongoing research into cymbal performance, TRX master cymbalsmiths recognized that modifying the three main areas of a cymbal— the edge, bell and face— can greatly influence its acoustical output. By developing a unique combination of manufacturing methods that optimize each zone’s sonic impact they were able to create the LTD series.

The outer edge of LTD Crash-Ride cymbals features a heavily polished finish that adds more brightness and explosiveness to the crash component of the sound while the bell of the cymbal is has a natural finish to increase the definition and articulation of the ride sound. To maintain a balance between the LTD’s clarity and power and its overall warmth and full-frequency tonal spectrum, the main playing surface has a more traditional lathed and hand-hammered finish. In the case of the hi-hats, this “three-zone” approach provides a cleaner, crisper stick and foot sound plus more volatile open and half-open effects.

Slightly heavier than TRX MDM (Medium) Series to further enhance their projection and durability, TRX LTD line is recommended for a variety of contemporary playing situations. The cymbals are sold individually but are also available in an exclusive Crash-Ride Combo Pack, which includes an 18" and 20" Crash-Ride, 14" Hi-Hats and a free TRX deluxe cymbal bag, while supplies last.
